Born in 1977 in Argentina, and grew up in Germany. From 1994 to 2001 he travelled extensively throughout Latin-America, India and Africa . It was on a journey through Sudan in 1998 that he became interested in photojournalism. He studied photography at the Lette-Verein in Berlin, graduating in 2005.

He has been working as a freelancer ever since. Clients include the, DER FREITAG, GTZ, publications in Berliner Zeitung, Tagesspiegel, Handelsblatt. He became a member of the VISUM photo agency in 2007. Sebastian Laraia is currently based in Berlin.
